A Friendly Reminder on Firearms Safety
From Sheriff Bill Hose
Occasionally we need to remind ourselves
of basic in-home firearms safety. I hope that these few
helpful tips will help you remember the importance of properly
safeguarding your guns.
Sometimes we get careless and place our
firearms in places easily accessible to youngsters. Among
these places may be a closet shelf, a desk drawer or even
the top of the refrigerator. A curious child may stumble
upon the weapon while looking for something else. Tragedy
could strike in an instant!
Even beyond our own children could be
friends, neighbors, relatives, or even the babysitter.
I remind you that teenagers have many friends coming and
going. Please be sure that weapons are properly secured.
We've all heard horror stories of gun
accidents, many of which were preventable, and the sorrow
that follows. Let's take every precaution to ensure that
we are not responsible for such an occurrence as a result
of being lax in our safeguarding of firearms. Prevention
is an immeasurable commodity. Let's all practice PREVENTION!
